HSC is excited to announce a new partnership with Modern Goalkeeper, a specialized goalkeeper development school with locations throughout the tri-state area. This partnership reflects HSC’s continued commitment to providing our players with quality training, development opportunities, and resources to help them reach their full potential.
Modern Goalkeeper offers a club-neutral training environment focused on developing every aspect of a goalkeeper’s game, including technical, tactical, physical, mental, and social skills. Their approach recognizes that today’s goalkeeper must be much more than a shot-stopper. From commanding the penalty area and making crucial saves to distributing the ball accurately and initiating attacks, goalkeepers play an increasingly important role in every phase of the game.
Through this partnership, HSC aims to provide our goalkeepers with access to specialized training that complements their club experience and supports their continued growth. Modern Goalkeeper’s philosophy emphasizes athleticism, agility, decision-making, communication, and leadership—helping players become more confident, complete goalkeepers who can make an impact on and off the ball.
Dave McGillivary, HSC Soccer Director, shared his excitement about the new partnership:
“We’re thrilled to partner with Modern Goalkeeper and expand the development opportunities available to our players. The goalkeeper position requires a unique combination of technical ability, athleticism, confidence, and leadership, and specialized training can make a tremendous difference in helping players grow in all of these areas. This partnership is another step forward in our commitment to providing HSC athletes with the resources and support they need to continue developing and competing at their highest level.”
Found of Modern Goalkeeper, John Plaugic III, exclaimed:
“We’re excited to work with all the goalkeepers and families at Hillsborough Soccer Club! Developing goalkeepers is our passion, and we can’t wait to get out on the field, connect with the athletes, and help them grow both on and off the field. We’re looking forward to being part of this amazing soccer community!
At HSC, we believe that investing in player development means recognizing the unique needs of every position on the field. Our partnership with Modern Goalkeeper is an exciting step toward strengthening that commitment and helping our goalkeepers build the skills, confidence, and leadership qualities needed for success.
We look forward to working with Modern Goalkeeper and seeing our HSC goalkeepers continue to grow!
